Power Outage
2nd October 2007 14:35
I heard that there is a fairly large power outage in Westside/Westbank & Peachland. From what the radio has been saying, the traffic is a nightmare!
It's predicted to be back on around 6 PM, so I don't imagine we'll see too many from across the lake online until then...

Everything except the traffic lights at the Horizon drive/Hwy97 junction which for some reason were working perfectly. They must be on their own circuit????????
We were happily browsing around Orchard Mall when we got a call from the CBeebies saying the school was closed and they had our son, he had phoned home but the phone was out of action and we hadn't given him my cell phone number (ooops)
Thanks guys!

Just a note about phones and power outages:
When the power is off, the phone lines still work. The problem is that if you're using cordless phones, their bases require power to transmit to the handsets. So, it's a good idea to keep at least one regular, non-cordless phone in the house. That way, you'll still get your calls.

Yep i may be good at dad jokes but crap at the important stuff.
Now we have to get him a cell phone he says, so that's gonna cost me big time.
You are right Longint, in the UK we had a standard phone in case of a power failure but it somehow seems to have slipped our minds here, until today that is.
